Nefarious: Merchant of Souls

There’s a worldwide crisis that’s taking place right now and has been taking place for years. We may be ignorant to it or know about it and pay it little attention. I’m talking about the issue of slavery and human trafficking. One of the main reasons humans are trafficked today is for sex. People are being bought and sold by brokers and rented out by the hour to customers throughout the world. It’s a worldwide crisis that affects Korea, Canada, USA, Europe and countless other countries.

On Friday, I had the privilege to attend the world premiere of the documentary Nefarious: Merchant of Souls here in Seoul. It’s new documentary that investigates the critical human rights issue of women, teenage girls and even young girls who are being bought, sold, kidnapped and exported throughout the world for sexual purposes. This documentary goes to 4 different continents and interviews sex slaves, pimps, traffickers and the experts and the NGO workers working to free them.

Nefarious: Merchant of Souls

This is one of the most important documentaries I have ever seen. I encourage you to find out where it is screening and go check it out. If it is not showing in a place near you, order the DVD online when it becomes available. It’s a must-see movie that will educate about this important issue and challenge you to do something about it.

Human trafficking is a worldwide issue that affects Bangkok, Thailand and Toronto, Canada and many cities in between. Women are being bought and sold for sex right now in many different parts of the world. Don’t just sit idly by, watch this documentary and get involved in the fight.

You can check out the trailer here.                                                                                           You can check out the screening locations here and here.                                                     You can can pre-order the DVD here.

  1. I don’t know how long you’ve been in Korea or if you’ve heard but many of the laws surrounding prostitution in Canada has been struck down (but are being appealed) and some want it regulated. Now I’m not sure if it’s all of Canada or just ontario but there is a Toronto city councillor that proposed a regulated red light district in that city… a really bad idea in my estimation.

    • Yeah, I’ve heard about that in the news. I think it’s a bad idea too. It can’t be successfully regulated, Amsterdam is an example of that. That’s just one issue of many that I have with it.
